Former PM’s reaction to Washington’s actions

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has criticised the US decision to ease sanctions on Russian fuel. The politician called this move disgusting, expressing dissatisfaction with the American side’s position on restrictions regarding Russian energy carriers.

Causes of the energy market price spike

Johnson also reacted to attempts to hold Ukraine responsible for the sharp rise in oil prices. The former Prime Minister called such claims absurd. According to him, the price spike on the market is linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, not to the actions of the Ukrainian side.

«Якщо ми хочемо, щоб російські нафта й газ знову з’явилися на світовому ринку, то маємо покласти край цій війні — заради вільної, суверенної та незалежної України» (If we want Russian oil and gas to reappear on the global market, we must put an end to this war — for a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine), Johnson emphasised.
