The British broadcaster BBC published a documentary film detailing the activities of a Russian man who uses the pseudonym Foma. In his own words, he coordinates a network that monitors senior Russian army officials. The collected intelligence is passed to Ukrainian security services, which may use it to conduct operations against RF military personnel.
One of the key episodes highlighted by the publication is the surveillance of Russian General Fanil Sarvarov. This individual died in December 2025 as a result of a car explosion near a residential building in the Russian capital. According to BBC data, the general was under observation prior to his death, and the process was coordinated by Foma.
The publication describes Foma as a representative of the Russian elite. Following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he left RF territory and moved to Poland. From there, he claims to manage his network.
Foma states that his team consists of approximately 30 people. These individuals operate within Russia, Ukraine, and several European states.
The individual notes that his network focuses on gathering information about military infrastructure and specific servicemen. This ranges from the locations of military units and headquarters to the residential addresses of generals and officers.
«Це повноцінний збір даних: де бази зберігання, де розташування частин, де живуть генерали, де перебувають штаби. Де живуть офіцери, які працюють у цих штабах, де живуть пілоти стратегічних бомбардувальників, які обстрілюють Україну, хто віддає наказ» (This is full-scale data collection: where the storage bases are, where the units are located, where the generals live, where the headquarters are. Where the officers working in these headquarters live, where the pilots of strategic bombers shelling Ukraine live, who gives the orders), he said in the BBC documentary.
At the same time, Foma denies that his group is directly involved in killings. However, he acknowledges the fact of passing information on the locations of Russian military to Ukrainian security services, which they may use to organise assassination attempts.
Russian opposition media suggest the hypothesis that Foma may be one of the co-founders of the Telegram channel "Volia". Since September, this resource has acted as a military commentator on the YouTube channel The Breakfast Show.
However, the BBC documentary does not reveal a direct link between Foma and the "Volia" channel. His potential involvement in this project is inferred based on indirect indicators.
