António Costa states EU ready to accept new members

Strategic dialogue on the future of the union

European Council President António Costa made a statement regarding the prospects for the enlargement of the European Union. According to him, the bloc's leadership must focus on preparing to accept new members into the EU "family".

Costa noted that he is ending the day with a strategic discussion dedicated to EU enlargement and internal reforms.

Results of meetings with candidates

It is noted that intergovernmental conferences were held this week with four candidate countries: Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova, and Albania. According to the President of the European Council, thanks to the implementation of reforms, the accession process of these states to the EU is moving forward.
