Kyiv ready for a ceasefire, Moscow continues attacks

The Ukrainian side has confirmed its readiness to implement real de-escalation measures, specifically a ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure. However, according to Volodymyr Zelensky, Russia is not adhering to the relevant terms and continues to attack Ukrainian energy facilities.

Reaction to Russian military actions

The head of state published these assessments following a report from the negotiating group, which concluded its meetings on the territory of the United States. The President emphasised that Ukraine supports the idea of an energy ceasefire and is ready to guarantee its implementation in accordance with the statement by the US President. Responsibility for the next steps now lies with Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Russian troops continued to shell the energy system on the eve and throughout the day. Air raid alerts persisted across the country, while the Russians employed Shahed-type strike drones and aerial bombs.

«Якщо удари і є відповіддю Росії на заяву Президента Америки, то це означає, що росіяни змарнували чергову можливість наблизити мир» (If the strikes are indeed Russia's response to the American President's statement, it means the Russians have squandered yet another opportunity to bring peace closer), Zelensky stated.

The role of the US in the de-escalation process

The President emphasised that the position of the US and pressure on Russia are crucial for successful de-escalation. He added that the Ukrainian side continues communication with the American side at all levels. According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the negotiating teams have already determined further actions and diplomatic frameworks.
