The problem of early warning about missile strikes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concern that international partners had repeatedly failed to inform Kyiv in advance of the threat of Russian ballistic missile launches. According to him, this situation has already occurred three times in the recent period.

The head of state disclosed this information in his address, summarising the results of a conversation with Pope Leo XIV. During the discussion, the parties examined current security challenges and threats facing Ukraine in detail, paying particular attention to issues regarding the receipt of timely warnings from partners.

«Говорили також про всі безпекові виклики та загрози, які зараз є, зокрема періодичну відсутність попереджень від партнерів про російські балістичні атаки, що сталося вже тричі за останній час» (We also talked about all the security challenges and threats that exist now, in particular the periodic lack of warnings from partners about Russian ballistic attacks, which has already happened three times recently), Zelensky emphasised.

Discussion of the humanitarian situation and support

In addition, the president informed the pontiff about the increasing intensity of Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities. A separate item on the agenda was the humanitarian catastrophe in the temporarily occupied Oleshky in Kherson region.

Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian authorities are working on finding solutions that will allow them to provide assistance to local residents. «Працюємо над тим, щоб допомогти нашим людям там. Готуємо рішення. Його Святість поінформував про контакти з російською стороною із цього приводу» (We are working to help our people there. We are preparing a solution. His Holiness informed us about contacts with the Russian side on this matter), the president reported.

At the beginning of the conversation, the head of state wished the Pope a full and speedy recovery after his surgery. Zelensky also thanked the pontiff for his support of Ukraine, prayers for Ukrainians, and efforts aimed at achieving peace.
