Zelensky: Canada integrates into European anti-ballistic missile system project FREYJA

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Canada has become a participant in the project to create a joint anti-ballistic missile system with Europe, FREYJA.

Thankful response to condolences

The head of state expressed gratitude to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for his words of condolence addressed to Ukrainians against the backdrop of constant Russian attacks.

Addressing defence needs

In his comment, Zelensky noted that the Canadian Prime Minister has a clear understanding of Ukraine's needs in the security sector, particularly in anti-ballistic defence and preparation for the winter period.

"Премʼєр-міністр дуже добре поінформований про наші потреби у захисті, передусім в антибалістиці та підготовці до зими. Дуже добре, що Канада активно включилася в розробку спільної з Європою антибалістичної система FREYJA. Це точно те, що може додати захисту не лише Україні, а й глобально", - зазначив Зеленський. (The Prime Minister is very well informed about our needs in defence, primarily in anti-ballistic systems and winter preparation. It is very good that Canada has actively joined the development of the joint anti-ballistic missile system FREYJA with Europe. This is definitely something that can add protection not only to Ukraine, but globally," Zelensky stated.)

Discussion of energy truce

During the conversation, the parties also touched upon the issue of the energy truce proclaimed by US President Donald Trump. Zelensky emphasised that Ukraine supports this initiative and has already voiced its position.

At the same time, the head of state underlined that a response from Russia is now needed: it is necessary to find out exactly what Moscow will say to the American leader and whether it will stop strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities.
