Appeals from US officials to Kyiv

The Wall Street Journal has published information stating that over the past months, senior US representatives have repeatedly appealed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to refrain from striking Russian oil refineries.

According to the newspaper's sources, the initiators of these appeals were US Vice President JD Vance, as well as US President's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Context of previous reports

Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that the United States had appealed to Ukraine six times to cease attacks on Russian energy facilities. This occurred after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September.
