A young Ukrainian woman living in France has reported becoming a target of harassment and receiving direct death threats. The cause of these actions by certain individuals was her public stance, in which she condemned the violent methods used during the student protests.

Reaction to criticism of destruction

According to the woman, she began to be called a racist after she expressed disagreement with acts of vandalism, specifically the arson of buses, educational institutions, and private property. She emphasised that protest activity cannot be a justification for destruction.

«Мене назвали расисткою, бо я сказала, що палити автобуси, школи та чуже майно — неправильно. Мене цькують і погрожують убити» (I was called a racist because I said that burning buses, schools, and other people's property is wrong. I am being harassed and threatened with death), she said.

Migration experience and observations

A video is also circulating online in which a young man calls on riot participants to loot shops, specifically the Sephora chain, and take cosmetics. Commenting on these clips, the Ukrainian stated that she sees the true face of the protest participants in them.

She drew a parallel between these events and her own experience of moving to France after the start of the war in Ukraine. The woman emphasised that her arrival in this country does not mean an intention to cause destruction.

«Я приїхала до Франції, але я не збираюся її руйнувати» (I came to France, but I am not going to destroy it), the young woman stressed.
