US President Donald Trump continues to express harsh criticism towards Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. During a conversation with a journalist, the American head of state accused his counterpart of missing a chance to stop the fighting, which, according to Trump, resulted in significant human casualties.
The situation unfolded after a journalist quoted Zelensky’s words: “Zelensky says that on this issue you are on the wrong side of history”.
In response, Trump immediately replied that the Ukrainian president does not understand the essence of his statements. “Zelensky doesn’t understand what he is talking about. Zelensky is a person who could have ended this war a long time ago. If he had listened to me, he would have made a much better deal much earlier, and millions of people on his side would still be alive,” the American leader emphasised.
In addition, Trump focused on the aspect of mutual obligations, claiming that the cooperation had been one-sided. “We gave Ukraine a lot. They gave us nothing in return. Remember that,” he added.
