Attempt to organise departure from military facility

Investigators from the State Bureau of Investigations detained a serviceman who was serving at one of the training centres in Rivne region. The man is suspected of attempting to bribe the command in order to leave his place of service without authorisation.

According to investigation data, after being mobilised, the suspect began actively seeking ways to return to Volyn region, where he is from. To this end, he established contact with individuals who, according to available operational information, promised to organise his unimpeded passage past checkpoints from Rivne to Volyn. However, implementing such a plan required the soldier to independently leave the territory of the military facility.

Bribe of 5,000 US dollars

To obtain permission to leave the military facility, the serviceman approached his commander and offered him 5,000 US dollars for the corresponding assistance.

The officer rejected this illegal offer and reported the situation to the unit's command and law enforcement agencies. The suspect's subsequent actions were carried out under the control of the relevant services. On the evening of 12 October 2026, the man was detained after he handed over the money and left the training centre.

Investigation ongoing

Currently, SBI investigators have informed the soldier of the suspicion. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the criminal proceedings, including verifying information about individuals who may have assisted in organising the suspect's departure to Volyn region.

In accordance with current legislation, the suspect is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in court.
