Death of Russian artist confirmed in St Petersburg

Ukrainian defenders killed Russian actor Yefim Startsev at the front line, who fought as part of the occupation forces against Ukraine. This became known on 22 October.

According to data disseminated by Russian propaganda resources, the soldier was killed on 30 September, but the funeral ceremony was only held on 19 October in St Petersburg.

«Єфима не стало, він загинув майже місяць тому, 30 вересня» (Yefim is gone, he died almost a month ago, on 30 September), said a source close to Russian propagandists, confirming the fact of Startsev's death in the war. Meanwhile, information about the specific direction where the occupant died is not disclosed.

Film career and circumstances of mobilisation

Yefim Startsev was 50 years old. Russian media do not provide exact data on when and how the artist joined the ranks of the occupation army. However, according to data from websites dedicated to the film industry, he was likely sent to the front after 2024, as his last film works are dated to that year.

In 2024, Startsev appeared in the third seasons of the Russian TV series «Філін» (Filyon / Eagle-owl) and «Наш спецназ» (Our Special Forces). In total, his filmography includes 19 works in 19 projects.

Among the well-known films in which the actor appeared are the popular in Russia TV series «Ментовські війни» (Mentovskie Voyny) and «Литейний» (Liteiny). In particular, he took part in the filming of the ninth season of «Ментовських воєн» (Mentovskie Voyny), which was released on screens in 2015.
