The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced the use of modern simulators in practical classes for the subject 'Defence of Ukraine'. During the All-Ukrainian Forum 'Defence of Ukraine — 2026', students had the opportunity to test the Ukrainian CITADELE system. The event served as a platform for integrating pedagogical methods, military experience, and domestic technological solutions. Representatives of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine 'Azov' also joined the educational programme.
Manufacturer L7 Simulators describes CITADELE as a laser simulator with multimedia capabilities. The system allows for simulating different times of day and weather conditions, as well as conducting exercises with stationary or moving targets. The device enables the repeated practice of training scenarios in a controlled environment.
Training mock-ups replicate the appearance and mass and dimensional characteristics of the corresponding samples, but their design excludes their use as combat weapons. Tasks in the system can be adapted to the level of student preparation. In addition, CITADELE stores exercise results, allowing the instructor to track each participant's progress.
The Ministry of Education emphasises the importance of a comprehensive approach: the equipment must work in conjunction with methodological materials and a prepared instructor. For educators, the developer offers free video materials. Temporary use of a mobile system for teacher training is also provided, as well as a demonstration format for communities, educational institutions, and subject centres.
The practical format is supported by methodological materials. Previously, the Ministry of Education and Science announced a guide for the updated course in grades 10–11. It contains 140 ready-made lessons with step-by-step scenarios, exercises, games, and presentations. The materials are grouped into eight-hour training sessions, but teachers can combine them depending on the conditions and needs of the centre. Special attention is paid to organising the learning space and supporting students during classes.
As previously noted, the list of equipment for the subject 'Defence of Ukraine' has already been updated. It now includes FPV simulators, training drones, interactive shooting trainers, and tools for practising pre-medical aid.
