Verdict for the organiser of the famous rapper's murder

A court in Los Angeles has concluded the trial regarding the murder of the famous rapper Tupac Shakur (2Pac). Duane "Keef D" Davis, who was found to be the organiser of the crime, received a sentence of 40 years to life imprisonment.

According to Reuters, the convict intends to appeal the court's decision.

Jury verdict and legal nuances

In August this year, the jury unanimously found Davis guilty on the single count of murder with a deadly weapon.

It is worth noting that the investigation failed to prove that Davis himself pulled the trigger. However, under Nevada state law, organising a crime entails full criminal liability.

Circumstances of the murder and the start of the investigation

Tupac Shakur was shot on 7 September 1996. The musician died from his injuries on 13 September of the same year. The pre-trial investigation gained new momentum only after 2019.

At that time, Duane Davis, who had previously led the "Crips" gang, published memoirs in which he revealed details of the murder. He was arrested in September 2023.

Motives and chronology of the case

According to the prosecution, Davis decided to take revenge on Tupac for a fight with his nephew.

Of all those who could have been suspects, only Duane Davis was still alive as of 2026.
