Full halt of production processes
Ukraine's largest metallurgical complex, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, has decided to fully halt production. The enterprise will subsequently begin the process of conserving its capacities. The primary reason for this change in operating mode was missile strikes by Russia, which resulted in casualties and damage to the enterprise's production activities.
Consequences of attacks and losses
According to company data, the complex suffered four missile attacks. As a result of these strikes, six employees were killed, and more than 18 others were injured. These events forced management to halt main metallurgical production, as its continuation became dangerous.
Duration of halt and future plans
The process of so-called "cold shutdown" of the equipment will last approximately two months. Enterprise representatives state that the resumption of full operations is planned after the end of hostilities.
Management's position
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih CEO Mauro Longobardo commented on the situation, emphasising the impossibility of ensuring staff safety under current conditions.
«За нашою поточною оцінкою, безпечна робота неможлива, поки триває війна», — зазначив Мауро Лонгобардо. (According to our current assessment, safe work is impossible while the war continues, Mauro Longobardo stated.)
